Those who know me are aware of my penchant for peacock blue - especially anything in lacquered blue hues. We will be seeing my own incarnation in January 2011’s issue of Canadian House and Home, which features my library/dining room in this heavenly colour. A friend sent me a link to Konstam at the Prince Albert recently, and while I never made it there in person before it closed down in August, I am intrigued by what Heatherwick had done with this interior; masses of peacock blue… and more silver chains that Lady Gaga could ever conjure!

Elsie de Wolfe, Dorothy Draper and David Hicks (among others) all did wonderful things with this daring palette. More to come on this topic – but if you ever made it to the pub in London’s Kings Cross, please let me know what I missed!

I wish there was a room in our small ranch to paint Peacock Blue. I have painted all the rooms recently except one, but I think this color would not work in the one remaining room. That makes me a wee bit sad. But such happiness in seeing this wondrous and magical restaurant-in photos. I love the wild elegance of the chandeliers/draping and the simplicity of the tables and chairs-almost, almost shaker-like. Now that I look again, there is a church-like feel to the place.

Colors painted in our home: Benjamin Moore “Poppy” in Living Room; C2Paints’ “Get Back Jack” (think of Black Cherry Soda) in Dining Room; Benjamin Moore “Winding Vines” in Bedroom; a Benjamin Moore “Gray” in Office; wallpaper in hallway and 1/2 of kitchen along with a Yellow; and now on to our Sitting Room……

I want to try your peacock blue featured in the Jan 2011 issue of House and Home. Can you share the name of the paint?
The amaryllis sketch is equally gorgeous.
    Cheers,
    Lena
